Today we had our first Grizzly Nation assembly out on the blacktop. They will take place about once a month and will be an opportunity to gather as a school community and recognize GREAT students. Due to the heat, we tried out some indoor activities available through GoNoodle to get some exercise and movement in a fun way.

Today our class went to their first session for music and science lab. They learned about the choices they will have for music and some of what they can expect for science lab class. The last picture shows students looking inside the science storage room where all of the supplies for experiments are kept. There will be a music information meeting for parents on Tuesday, September 1st, at 6:30, in the Cypress Village Elementary MPR. Please note that this meeting is not at our school.
Today was a great first day! After we all got over some of our first day jitters, we began to settle into our new classroom home and got comfortable. The first day is all about getting to know each other and learning routines. As part of our day, we interviewed classmates and then introduced them to the class. On Friday, May 29th, the 6th grade classes at LFE celebrated the study of Ancient Greece with Olympic type events and skits depicting Greek myths. Mr. Pacak's Skit GroupsToday was our first of 6 sessions with Deputy Garrison from the OC Sheriff's Department. He will cover drugs and gangs in an effort to educate students about the dangers of drug use and involvement with gangs. Today our class went to the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana to view the China exhibit. The class started with a foil dragon art project and then toured the museum exhibit. In the museum, students learned about trade, Chinese contributions, and art from various periods in history. Yesterday was our Oral History Day celebration. Students sang a group song and read poems about the subject of their reports. Guests and subjects were invited to the celebration and were honored guests who were flattered to be interviewed about their life experiences. The reports have students an opportunity to deepen their connection with someone of an older generation and learn from their stories. Click on the slideshow below to be taken to the album, where you can browse and save any photos from the album. During December, the students of LFE got to experience nature and science by going to Outdoor Science School. Though not far from home, the camp site, near Irvine lake provided an exciting opportunity to learn about science and participate in fun activities! |
