Kyle chose to learn more about quadcopters and invited a friend to come and demonstrate how it worked. This video was shot using the quadcopter and a GoPro camera attached.

On Friday, May 30, the 6th grade classes at LFE participated in a Greek Olympic Day. Students competed in Olympic style athletic events and were able to taste Greek food. Some classes also prepared and put on Greek myth skits. For this report, students were allowed to choose a topic to explore, learn about it and report back to the class. Some of the topics chosen were Greek Gods, Ancient Rome, sports figures and techniques, and quadcopters. They submitted a written report, a project component, and presented their topics to the class. On May 22, our class attended a fieldtrip to the San Joaquin Marsh operated by the Irvine Ranch Water District. We had had a pre-fieldtrip activity to test and filter water samples and continued experiments at the marsh. Students also took a tour of the marsh and learned about the animals, birds and water systems that are part of the wetlands. In science the class has been learning about the various biomes around the world. They were tasked with creating a diorama to show one biome of their choosing. Ocean, tundra, rain forest and desert were some of those featured. |
