Today's weather was a vast improvement from yesterday! Although it was cloudy, there was no precipitation and the fog lifted by late morning. For breakfast we had sausage patties, hash browns, and scrambled eggs with biscuits and gravy. After breakfast, the groups worked through a variety of stations that included games like animal password and fish bowl and other activities like frisbee golf. It was an American themed menu for lunch with hot dogs, fries, chili, and salads. In the afternoon, the groups continued with their rotations and prepared to present their skits. On the dinner menu were chicken, rice, steamed veggies and salad. They served spiced cupcakes for dessert. The evening was capped off by the presentation of skits by cabin groups. Tomorrow morning the buses are scheduled to be here at 10am. If all goes as planned, we should be back at LFE by around 12 noon.
The weather was a bit of a "damper" today with some rain, low clouds, and occasional hail, but the kids still managed to get out on trails and have a good time. For breakfast they were able to choose from pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries, scrambled eggs and hash browns. Following breakfast, there was an animal presentation that included several animals native to the area. A raccoon, a tortoise, a falcon and an owl were all brought in so the students could see them up close. At lunch they could choose from ribs, rice pilaf, chowder, and salads. After lunch it was time for another hike! Hamburgers and beans were served for dinner with brownies as the dessert. They did an evening activity and it will soon be time for lights out. Hoping for better weather tomorrow! The first day of camp was fantastic. We arrived to sunny skies. The students enjoyed doing camp chants together and then they settled into their cabins. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch of chicken, rice, and veggies for lunch. After lunch we went on our first hike. On the hike students played team building games with their trail groups and they learned about native animals and plants along the way. They also learned about biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) things. After the hikes we had all worked up an appetite and we enjoyed a dinner of pasta, salad, breadsticks, and lemon bars for dessert. We ended the evening with silly skits put on by the camp leaders and a fun line dance. It was a great day! |
